All students studying abroad through The University of Southern Mississippi are enrolled in one of the following international healthcare coverages depending on the type of program. The cost of the insurance is included in the program fees. This insurance is mandatory and cannot be opted-out. Students will be enrolled by the Office of Study Abroad prior-to-departure. Students will receive an email confirmation from the insurance company once enrolled. Students will be prompted to activate an online account with the insurance company and will have access to their policy and insurance card here.
- All short-term programs that are 2-6 weeks
- Short-term programs that are 7+ weeks
- Semester/Academic Year programs
If the Office of Study Abroad cancels a program, all efforts will be made to recover any funds already expended on students’ behalf. However, in some circumstances, there are non-recoverable costs. If a student is concerned about the possibility of program cancellation, interruption, or the need to withdraw from the program after the deadline, he or she should consider purchasing additional travel cancellation insurance such as a” Cancel for Any Reason” plan. These policies range in price and policies should be reviewed carefully before purchase since each differs in benefits and coverage.
